Slick!

I just recently bought a new laptop. Just to be clear, I am not trying to be an expert in the world of electronics. However, I had been keeping my eye out for awesome deals. A GREAT resource for keeping your eye out for great deals, especially electronics, but not limited to, is Slickdeals. It's basically a site where people can post in a forum deals they come across or know about and have the inside scoop or whatever. The best deals are the main feature, but you can find links to sometimes equally awesome deals off to the side. I definitely encourage you to check it out, it's very self-explanatory. I got an awesome deal from DELL on my faboosh new laptop. The deal only lasted 36 hours or so and then it expired.

Other deals I have personally gotten by using Slickdeals

- .99 a piece clothes from the Children's Place

- 40% off Calvin Klein's entire website

- Restaurant.com coupon codes

- Popular Boys Tennis Shoes for $7

- A small bundle of Philosophy products for $5 (made great stocking stuffer type gifts)

-faboosh lappy from DELL

I have seen links to discounts for everything from diapers to tvs to clothes to video games. There is something for everyone on there. I love site's like this bc it's just a bunch of people spreading the word of great deals out there, that are legit and save substantial amounts of money! Let me know if you check it out for the first time and what you think!

It's Friday!! Let's eat out!

I love to eat out! Food is definitely another passion of mine. Hard thing about eating out is that it costs an arm and a leg these days. One of my favorite ways to eat out on a budget is restaurant.com. The decent restaurants are few and far between, but if you put in your zip code you are likely to find a gem or 2 near you! The way it works is you can purchase a $25 gift certificate for $10 or $50 for $25 and so on. There's a few options. There are also some restrictions, none that I have ever found to be super hindering, but restrictions nonetheless. For example, no using them on holidays, must spend a minimum amount (must spend $35 to use a $25 gc), may not be used towards alcohol or other beverages. Each restaurant is different so be sure to read thru the guidelines of the one you are choosing. Ok, so at this point you may be thinking "$25 for $10 and then I still gotta spend $10 and then tax and gratuity...can you tell me where the REAL deal is in this??" Why, yes I can! Before you checkout, open up another internet browser and google words like "restaurant.com coupon code 80". You will then get an abundant amount of websites offering you coupon codes to save 60, 70, or even 80% off your purchase. Let me break it down if you're not a math whiz. 80% off of $10 brings your $25 GC to grand total purchase price of $2! Woo! I live in Southern California and I have used these gift certificates at Lone Star Steakhouse, Alibi @ Dos Lagos, Citrus City Grill & Blackwood (now closed). We can go to Lone Star and have an awesome steak meal and get the kids kids meals for $35-$38, but we walk out of there spending less than $20!

Other tips for eating out:

-google coupons for your favorite restaurants. Example: I LOVE CHEVY'S! We never eat there without printing a coupon buy one combo and get one for $2.99 or $3.99. My husband and I just order two 4-item combos and there is more food than the 5 of us can finish! and our total bill is $16.

-Become fans of your favorite places on fb- Chick-Fil-A is awesome about getting the word out about free food they are giving away that day or all week long!

-Eat on kids eat free nights

If you have any other tips or ideas that have worked for you, please share! And if you try any of the above, let me know how it worked out for you!

Welcome!

My name is Priscilla, I am wife to one and mom to 3 and there are a quite a few things I am exuberantly passionate about, but one of them is saving money. I HATE watching people get ripped off or just plain paying through the nose for everyday expenses. In my short 25 years, I have learned some financial lessons the hard way and now my husband and I work very hard to keep our hard earned money. This blog is going to show you real life examples of how I save our family oodles of money as well as others. So many people just go with the flow and pay the first price that pops out of someone's mouth. In this economy if you want my business, you're going to give a me a GREAT deal and GREAT service. I really hope I can save you a buck or 2, too! Feel free to leave questions in the comments and hopefully I can help!

Sample of what this blog will entail:

True story from today's events. Names have been changed.

Mildred: They [Toyota] say I need a new water pump.

Me: Let me guess, $600?

Mildred: How'd you know?

Me: Been there, spent that. Let me call a reputable place and see what they'll charge.

[Mildred DEF would have paid the $600 to Toyota had I not intervened. YIKES]

B&D: B&D Automotive. How can I help you?

Me: Hi, How much for a water pump for a 200* *****?

B&D: Hold on...ok for a 200* ***** it will be $260, we usually charge $325?

Me: Ok, awesome. How about a discount if we pay cash?

B&D: Oh, always a deal for cash. $250.

Me: Great! We'll bring it in today. Thanks!

So in a matter of 30 seconds, I saved Mildred $350. There is nothing magical about what I do or how I do it. I just do things that dont occur to other people. If there was ever time people need to start cracking down on where their dollars are going, its NOW.

Tune in for more money saving tips and stories!
